The Community Sightings Network reported a total of 334 sightings of 1972 whales, dolphins and porpoises (cetaceans) in July 2017. Including 11 different species of cetacean, plus basking sharks.

We surveyed the Sea of Hebrides; travelling to the Small Isles, then from Skye to Barra, and onwards to Coll. We had 29 encounters with six different species of marine mammals and sharks, totalling 63 animals.
